The travel bans during the COVID-19 pandemic apply to flights and trains, so I’ve decided to do a little traveling around my own home instead. Join me on a trip as we travel to the favorite rooms in my house. We’ll visit exciting and exotic destinations like the bedroom! The living room! And don’t forget the newest and hottest destination…the “Entertainment” room!

The bedroom

This is a personal favorite. Being cooped up inside the house has helped me discover some lost objects, such as my teddy bear. We were once best buddies, inseparable during my childhood days. But our bond has weakened over the years. But as they say, love never completely fades, and I’m so glad I found him once again!

Apart from discovering forgotten objects, I did a little organization. I organized my cupboards and trashed some no longer needed items. Usually, I would consider this task too tedious, but pandemics have a way of changing your perspective.

But the bedroom as a workspace? I’m not so sure. At first, working sprawled out on the bed seemed like a great idea. However, it doesn’t lead to a whole lot of productivity. After nodding off a few times (okay, I admit…a whole lot of times), I’ve returned to my desk and chair.

The living room

The living room was once a place of gathering — a space for a fun conversation with friends or enjoying a delicious meal. Now the only visitor is the stray neighborhood cat who keeps peering in the window.

But my family is still around, and before this pandemic, the hectic pace of life had made us a bit distant. The living room is now a space to strengthen our familiar bonds. Who would have thought a few months ago we’d all be sitting around this room sipping immunity-boosting beverages with speakers blasting music in the background? This room has given me hope.

 The “entertainment” room

The world is scared about the future, but I’ve decided to look beyond the darkness and discover what gives me happiness. This room is special. It repels negative thoughts that grow in the mind.

I call it the “entertainment” room because it is designed exclusively for the television; for watching all the new and best on Netflix or jamming to the latest music video. Whether it is my younger sister’s cartoons or fun movies like “Finding Nemo” or “Frozen,” my family and I have seen all of them.

And you know what is essential for entertainment? Popcorn! I make sure to pop a big batch before plopping down in my favorite comfy chair.

I’ve made the best possible use of my time indoors. Soon, COVID-19 will be nothing except a name for a destroyer who failed to destroy. Until that day, I’ll continue to book travel throughout my house, discovering lost interests and biding my time.
